▣ Writing is my passion

Today, David Bell and I gave a workshop at Franklinton library. He talked about building blocks of a story and I talked about characters and backstory, as well as voice. We discussed the writer's voice vs the characters voice and how those were the same and how they were different.
For memoirs writers: Write about a character you've known. It could be a family member or it could be a friend or the man down the street. What was different about this person? How did he look, act, and speak?
They say to find your passion and follow it. As I spoke I realized anew that writing in my passion and I love to create characters and to make them real...human like you and I. For me it is fun and exciting to put them through whatever they must go through but I do like a happy ending if possible.
Writing is a lot of work but when you are doing what you love to do the labor is minimized. I do love to write and sometimes I zone out so that I might lose track of time for a while. The only other thing that makes me do that is reading...sometimes. It is a total concentration and a one minded focus which blocks out time and its meaning. The bad thing about that is that it has nearly made me late for things two or three times recently.
