▣ Old Writings

I found something written a long time ago and thought I'd post it. Here goes.
With all the wonders of the electronic age
It's solid state, it's micro this and micro that
some precious elements are lost in you and time.
The you and me
the intimacy of time standing still,
the delicious luxury of sharing the who and what
and where and why of you,
before the tick of time begins again
and speed you off into the whriling world.
For memoirs writers: Look for old writings that you may have done sometime in the past and update them.
For me there are hundreds of scaps of papers which I will not let go until I can write down the thoughts I once put into them. That means, of course, clutter...a lot of clutter. These thoughts, hastily written on a napkin perhaps or a scrap of paper during a recess from a meeting, are still something precious to me that I don't wish to lose.
The funny thing is that often I don't remember what inspired the thought at all as in the above piece of writing. I may edit the thought. In this case I didn't but sometimes I do, but mostly I don't want it lost. Often I wonder what on earth was going through my head at the time and sometimes marvel that I had such a deep thought on a subject I don't usually contemplate. As in the above piece, I don't remember when it was written or where but I imagine it was during a recess from a meeting because it's written on a yellow sheet of legal paper.
It's fun to go back, or it can be sad...but it's important.
