I gave a workshop last night with David Bell . This was at the Hilltop library.

For Memoirs group: Did you ever tell a story...a fib, as a child? Write about that and what happened as a result.

David Bell and I gave a workshop last night. My part of the workshop was to talk about characters. I started by saying we are all characters. Each of us is different. I mentioned that in a writing workshop I attended the leader had each of us stand and talk for five minutes about ourselves while everyone else took notes from how we presented ourselves and what we said. "Now," she said, "You have created some characters. It was a very enlightening exercise.

I discussed various ways to work with the character and how to make the character come alive and become a real person to the writer and also to the reader. We had a very interesting evening and I wish you had all been there.
